Quality Wheelchairs

Need a quality wheelchair?

Durable Frame

Quality starts with a durable frame, the frame is the most important part of the wheelchair, as it can be affect you positively, or be detrimental. Depending on the many different aspects of the frame, it can be helpful with your daily needs, it depends if the frame is lightweight, if it is compact and foldable, or if it is bulky and a heavy frame. If the frame is foldable then it is a good starting point, this means that you can store it in compact spaces, this also means it is portable, you can fold it and carry it up a stairwell, or if you are traveling in a vehicle or public transportation. If the frame is lightweight then it means that it would allow a smaller or fragile person to be able to store it in the trunk of a car or SUV. If the frame is lightweight then it means that it more than likely is made from aluminum, this make the frame lighter than conventional steel chairs.

Frame Material

A durable frame material can be made of aluminum, steel, or carbon fiber. The most common materials are aluminum and steel, for manual wheelchairs more than likely your chair is made from one of these two types of materials. Choosing one material over the other depends on the strength of the material and weaknesses, and how the wheelchair will be used.

Great Features

Quality chairs have great features that come stock with the wheelchair from the manufacturer. Great features include foldable frame, adjustable seat height, removable footrests/footplates, flip back or removable armrests, washable upholstery, caretaker or companion handles, companion brakes, foldable backrest, quick release wheels, and more. Depending on what your needs are, some of these features may be essential for you. Some of these options and features come stock with the wheelchair, others you must order as an option, which most manufacturers gladly accept.

Wheel Material

Wheel material depends on which type of wheelchair you purchase. The material varies between rear and front wheels, front wheel casters are usually made of rubber or polyurethane materials. Rear wheels can be made of polyurethane as well as many other materials. It also depends on whether you prefer a pneumatic tire or a flat free puncture free material.

Seating System

There are many wheelchair seating systems on the market, depending on what you are looking for, you can find a seating system that is right for your needs. Seating systems come in different shapes and sizes, we recommend contacting us regarding your preference in seating systems. We offer the conventional wheelchair seating system and we also offer the S-Shape Seating System, which is our patented technology that is not sold anywhere else in the US. Some seating systems are specifically made for the user, this is usually the case with custom manual wheelchairs. Custom manual wheelchairs are tailored specifically to the user’s height and width, customized all the way down to the size of  the armrests and footrests. Some seating systems prevent pressure sores and back problems from occurring on a long term basis, such as the S-Shape Seating System which prevents such problems and provides even more features than the conventional manual wheelchair.

Seating Upholstery

Seating upholstery is usually made of nylon material, this can be useful for the long term use. Nylon upholstery if removable, allows the user to remove the material and wash it as much as needed.
