K3 Wheelchair – Lightweight Wheelchairs

This “K-Code” or HCSPC code refers to a wheelchair classified under the “lightweight” category. This classification has a bigger amount of chairs to choose from than a K1 or K2 code. The most common seat width in this class is either a 16” or 18”, but some models may be available in a 20” seat width.

In the K3 class, there are more chairs that may have a frame adjustment or modification, but still very few compared with the latter “K-Code” classes, such as K4 or K5 codes. The weight class for these types of chairs is typically around 36 pounds or less, without leg rests.
