Pediatric Disability Addressed: Hamden playground for kids with disabilities

Children with a disability or in wheelchairs should have a chance to enjoy outdoor activities just like any other kid out there. What is a good way to implement wheelchair activities for kids into communities? Having a playground built in every community that is wheelchair accessible in every way.

A community in Hamden, Connecticut has done the good deed by creating a playground that is wheelchair accessible. By connecting each piece of equipment to a ramp, “Josh’s Jungle” has become a great place for kids. Those in wheelchairs and other disabilities, are able to enjoy playground fun without feeling left out.

Inspired by a mother who said “There’s a park I can take my dog to, but not my son”, she then went ahead and campaigned to have a playground built so that children with and without disabilities, can all enjoy the same equipment without feeling left out.
