The short answer is it depends on the extent of your back injury. If you damage the nerves in your spinal cord, it is possible that you would require a wheelchair to move around after the injury.

There is a higher probability of paralysis when it comes to back injuries than there is for any other type of injury. It all depends on how much damage was done to your nerves and how severe the injury was. Because your spinal cord is responsible for sending signals to your brain in regards to movement, it is very important to protect it as much as possible.
